Pierre is back!!!

av Alexander Norén

Great practice day here in Abu Dhabi. A full day and totally exhausted now. Trying to put videos together and learn how my camera works and also doing a lot of dry drills in the hotel room. My time management strategy got a little hit when we just ”had to” watch Sherlock Holmes. Fun though!

Played a lot better today. My few hours of dry drills in the room helps out a lot. Was a little lost like always on mondays of tournament weeks, but today was better. Hit it straighter of the tee and felt more in control. Staying with my coach Mike Walker now and it’s great talking golf technique even at night. I know, I’m a serious golf nut…

I never like swing shots of me but this actually looks alright. Tried hitting a nice fade but it drawed…not the best miss when aiming left but luckily there was a red wall there stopping the balls:)

My caddie Colin came up with the great idea of turning the hat left for a draw and right for a fade. It actually felt nice seeing the cap turned in the direction I want my head to move up in the follow trough…Thanks Colin!

Pierre is back and will stay for the whole 3 week desert swing!!! Sweet! He’s excited as well. He has missed us I think:)

Sherlock Holmes is a long movie, but seriously, that’s a big big bag of popcorn.

Abu Dhabi…

Loving my new camera. I think the HD video is good too for the videos.

The eagle clubhouse is very eh, eh…..I don’t know what to say about that…

Emirates Palace. 7 star hotel. Unreal. Takes 45 minutes to walk around it. The tournament pays for the rooms to all players, otherwise, we wouldn’t have been here…lucky lucky!

Arabian coffee tastes more like tea. Actually pretty nice.

Gym with mr. Beef. Excited. Back shortly with a video to see how the HD is.

Taxi-time

av Alexander Norén

Enough of training here in Dubai. 1 hour in a taxi will take us to Abu Dhabi where the real deal is on. I want to play tournaments again. Haven’t been that long since Royal Trophy but a long long time since my last individual stroke play (Dubai World Championship in the end of November).

A new world opened up to me yesterday, actually two new worlds. The Avatar world and the Canon world. My new camera feels great! trying to post some pics taking with it…And Avatar was a seriously cool film. Didn’t think it was my kind of movie but wow!!! I didn’t even fall asleep once.

See you in Abu Dhabi.

All the best!

Second competition!

av Alexander Norén

I thought the ”Lob wedge competition” we had earlier this year went great and it’s time for another one. I’ve been thinking a lot what kind of competition would be fun and still struggling to come up with something you ALL would like. So, it’s up tp you to come up with a comp and the ”Royal Trophy Team Shirt” signed by all of us 8 players (Peter Hansson, Henrik Stenson, Colin Montgomerie, Soren Kjeldsen, Pablo Martin, Simon Dyson, Robert Karlsson and myself) from the winning European Team is the winner’s prize. Preferrably, the comp should be related to golf but I’m not totally against something else fun. It’s your choice. Hope you guys like the prize.

Early morning is the best.

av Alexander Norén

I now understand how tough it must be to do a ”real sport” where you have to train until exhaustion pretty much every day. Edfors had a workout schedule that we followed and wow it was a tough session. But, there is no better feeling laying here in bed knowing that I pushed myself close to what I can do!

Another training day here in Dubai. Worked on a lot of different things and it’s getting better and better.

Went up early and Dubai is very pretty in the morning.

I like it when the sun hasn’t gotten up too far…

First hole at the Emirates Golf Club. In little less than three weeks we’ll be teeing off here. It’s a sweet tee-shot!

Camera people?

av Alexander Norén

Any camera crazy people out there? Canon EOS 500D or Canon EOS 5D? Feels like Canon has my vote but I’m not sure…Need to improve the pics on the blog now. And also for my website. Can’t wait for it to get up and running. Sorry for taking a while but want to make sure it’s fun!

Thanks for any advice!!!

Another day like most my days.

av Alexander Norén

I could really feel the last few days of travelling in my body. Never felt so weak when I started practising today. No control over the club whatsoever. A big lunch and loads of water helped a lot and we had a good session in the afternoon. Controlling the body in the swing is my main practise purpose. It sounds easy but it feels like I have a long way to go before perfection. But, as long as it’s getting closer I’m happy.

Feels weird being in Dubai again. I almost know my way around town now. Usually when coming down here, it’s really hard to find places since the on-going construction makes the road change constantly. Now, they haven’t had time to trick me since I was here just a few weeks ago…Sweet!

Edfors and I had our usual battle in the weight room. It’s makes such a big difference motivation wise when you have someone to ”compete” with in the gym. I hate working out myself. I have no motivation then and usually don’t puch myself even close to what I should do. I think it’s the same for golf practise. I hate spending a whole day alone out there. It’s depressing.

Emirates Golf Club is nice.

The gym…

P1020187.JPG

And the front of the clubhouse.

I need a new camera. This one sucks. The pics come out blurry. Sorry for that, I’m about to fix it.

Another ”beating-balls-until-I-got-something-good-going-day” tomorrow with Pete on the range. And, short-game. I tend to forget that part. I’m starting to like it more and more though.

Ciao.

Back to my second home.

Dubai.

P1010390.JPG

I think I broke my ”sleeping-on-a-plane record”! Fell asleep before taking off and woke up 6.15 minutes later when people started making noises pulling down bags from the overhead bins. Was great to catch up on sleep. The only problem now is that it’s 2.15 AM here in Dubai and I’m not tired whatsoever. Flying all over the world takes its toll.

3 practice days with my coaches here bofore heading over to Abu Dhabi. It’s only one hour in a cab.

Put on a booring movie so I still have a good chance to fall asleep.

See you tomorrow.
