After BarCraft – here comes BarStrike
avThe Swedish CS-profile, Fredrik ”slop3” Wahlstedt felt that something was missing before MLG X-Games in Aspen. He wanted to watch CS:GO alongside like minded with a beer in hand. Hence, BarStrike.
– Ever since BarCraft was introduced I have wanted to do something like it with Counter-Strike. The actual idea came to me this morning, he told Aftonbladet Esport about the inaugural Barstrike that will take place during the final of MLG this Sunday.
A few years have passed since BarCraft saw the light of day. Esport fans around the world started to gather in bars to watch the pros battle it out in StarCraft 2.
Now the turn has come for Counter-Strike to take a stroll into the bar. In central Stockholm the first Swedish BarStrike will take place this Sunday as MLG Xgames in Aspen comes to a conclusion.
– I’ve been casting a lot more recently and have received a lot of request to cast this event, but I can’t due to broadcasting rights. That means I will be forced to only watch the games and I thought that would be cool to do with friends and a few beers, Fredrik ”slop3” Wahlstedt explains to Aftonbladet Esport and continues:
– CS:GO has grown so much the last year and 2015 will be equally crazy. BarStrike will contribute to make esport feel like an natural part of everyday sport on the screen.
”Will do it as a test”
Will there be more BarStrikes?
– Of course the idea is to make this a continuous event, the one this weekend came about on an impulse and we will do it as a test. In the future I hope people who are interested in the concept will help out and make it a better event.
The first BarStrike will be held at O’Learys underneath Nya Söderstadion in Stockholm. The event will begin at 17.00 local time.
