BubkeZ and FMPONE creating ”Mirage 2” for CS:GO together
avMichael ”BubkeZ” Hüll, the creator of popular maps, such as Strike is back, this time with a sequal to Mirage. He is now collaborating with ”Shawn”FMPONE” Snelling to bring it to CS:GO.
–In ”Mirage 2” I saw the potential to make a better map than the predecessor, that’s when I decided to finish it, BubkeZ told Aftonbladet Esport.
Michael ”BubkeZ” Hüll started working on ”de_mirage2” in 2011. But the project was put on ice due to more time being spent on his farm together with his family. However, Michael saw great potential in the map and four years later he decided to complete his creation.
–After 1.6 went over to CS:GO I planned on dumping the project, but when I rediscovered the files years later I asked myself ”Damn it, why didn’t I complete this one?”. I told my girlfriend that I would spend some time by the computer, or I wouldn’t be able to let go, he told Aftonbladet Esport.
As of yet, the map only exists for the 1.6 version of counter-strike. But when Michael made a forum thread, publishing his new map, he received a lot of positive response and was soon contacted by Shawn ”FMPONE” Snelling, the man behind Cache and Season. They are now collaborating to bring the new map to CS:GO.
–I do the layout and Shawn do the graphical design you could say. Working with FMPONE feels great. He is a very experienced map builder and I think that’s required to make this map good.
Their first decision together was to rename the map and completely change theme to not dilute the maps brand, ”ala dust2”.
I told Bubkez that actually doing Mirage2 ala Dust2 is a bad idea and would dilute the map's brand. He agreed on a new theme using his 1/2
