”We usually follow Valve but this event is too close”

Copenhagen Games arrangeras en gång per år i Köpenhamn
Copenhagen Games won’t be using Train

Copenhagen Games will take place during the easter weekend.
With the upcoming switch from Nuke to Train in the active map pool, Copenhagen Games have made their decision prior to the event.
– People have been training and preparing for Copenhagen Games for a while, and changing this so close to the event is not good, even if it still remains equal for all teams, Zahid Butt of Copenhagen Games tells Aftonbladet Esport ahead of the tourney.

Amongst renowned names like Virtus.Pro and Team SoloMid several teams from around Europe will compete for 26 000 Euro at this year’s Copenhagen Games between the 1st and 4th of April. 64 will have the chance to make it to the last 16 teams of the tournament when the competition will be held in the GSL format.

– For many years, Copenhagen Games has been for the players only. We have always been thinking about the players and esport, Zahid Butt of Copenhagen Games tells Aftonbladet Esport and continues:
– A lot of people want to come and watch the games and we are trying to put in as many activities we can. At the same time we are building better stages, light, sound and so forth.

This year, some of the more prominent teams in the world are missing from the schedule, but one thing remains the same – the tournaments ambition to give the smaller teams a spot in the limelight.

No switch

Most of the upcoming teams participating in the tournament come from the Scandinavian countries, and most notably from Denmark. But a long side the star studded teams of VP and TSM, up-and-comers like LGB Esports, Team Property and PENTA Esports will also have a crack at the hefty prize pool.
– I personally  think there should be a tournament where top, and upcoming teams can meet and battle, Zahid Butt explains.

Are you looking to make the switch form Nuke to Train?
– We normally do follow Valve, but for this upcoming event its too close to do the switch. But we will definitely change it for future activities.
