Device’s dream final: ”We wanna show that we can beat Fnatic in a major”
avTeam Solomid are well on their way to win their ever first major title at ESL One Cologne.
So far they’ve been smashing opponents left and right, but there is still a certain group of individuals they hope to battle:.
– We wanna show that we can beat Fnatic in a major, Nicolai ”Device” Reedtz tells Aftonbladet Esport.
The Danes of Team Solomid are considered to be one of the absolute top dogs of CS:GO. However, they are yet to win their first major tournament, something they seem to have a good shot at achieving on Sunday at ESL One Cologne.
– It’s undesirably important. It’s what we’ve been fighting for since we made the team, getting a major win or getting a big tournament win. We’ve had the big tournament wins and now we want the major win, Nicolai ”Device” Reedtz tells Aftonbladet Esport.
For a long time Team Solomid was thought of as a team with immense potential, but when it came down to the important matches in the big tournaments, they choked. As of late, the mental block seem to have evaporated. Yet, in recent weeks they have been showing somewhat shaky performance.
– It’s really understandable that people think we had a bad preparation, because we feel that ourselves. To be honost, we have probably won 5 out of 30 scrims before this tournament. We’re kinda shaky, but I mean like, scrim results doesn’t matter. We came in strong and our performance reminds us of when we are winning tournaments, Device explains.
What was your confidence like going into this major?
– Actually it was pretty good. We’re a completely different team when we play in officially games, compared to normal games. We’ve shown it here and I’m pretty sure we are gonna show it in the semifinals too.
”We are pretty chocked”
The Danes are set to play the semifinal of ESL One Cologne on Sunday against Team EnvyUs. On their path to the semifinals they have been smashing opponents left and right. The most surprising result came when they demolished fan favorites Ninjas in Pyjamas.
– To be honost, Cache was probably our worst map going into this major, and we are pretty chocked that they didn’t play as we thought they would. They gave us all the map control and basically just panned out some close rounds, but we won it 16-3, Device says and continues:
– I think it was a mix of NiP playing bad tactically and us hitting our shots.
How do you feel about playing EnvyUs?
– They are definitely strong, but I don’t feel their tactics are as strong as other teams yet. But they’re strong individually and they have a strong map pool already, which is kinda scary since they’ve only played for one and a half month. So they are a strong team but I’m pretty confident we’re gonna get a good shot against them
Who would you like to play in the final?
– Fnatic of course. We want to beat Fnatic at a major now. We’ve proved that we can beat them in normal tournaments and now we wanna show that we can beat them in a major
