On monday the former Ninjas in Pyjamas AWP:er, Robin ”Fifflaren” Johansson was casting along side the guys at RoomOnFire. And on Tuesday Dreamhack confirmed that they have acquired Fifflarens talents.
– He’s in a very unique position, having played for NiP for almost three years, and he can give some insights and depth that the other casters can’t, Dreamhacks Head of eSports Tomas Lyckedal says.

Robin ”Fifflaren” Johansson made an appearance as Auguste ”Semmler” Massonnats co-caster during a game between Virtus.Pro and MouzThe morning after, screenshots taken of the DreamHack crew site listing Fifflaren as part of the casting crew at Dreamhack Winter started a series of rumors regarding his involvement in the tournament.

The rumos popped up on Reddit. In a thread posted by the user ”CresherSC2” the story started to circulate even more. And now, DreamHack officials have confirmed that the former pro will indeed cast during the major tournament.
– Yes. We can confirm that the rumours are true, DreamHack Press Officer Fredrik ‘ponderosa’ Nyström told Aftonbladet.

”In a very unique position”

And his colleague, DreamHacks Head of eSports Tomas Lyckedal, comments a bit more in depth as to why they chose to recruit Fifflaren.
– Outside play-by-plays, there’s a lack of good expert commentators so it will be fun trying something new. We’ve contemplated this ever since he quit NiP. He’s in a very unique position, having played there for almost three years and he can give some insights and depth that the other casters can’t, Lyckedal says.

”Will see things before we can”

The Swede will be casting along side Anders Blume and Scott ”SirScoots” Smith at the big event later in November. And Blume is very positive the retired Swede has decided to use his CS:GO skills for casting.
– This whole idea that you can go from being a pro and using your experience to actually still work with the game is a healthy sign, that’s something you see in regular sports as well. Someone who’s played the game professionally will always be able to see things before we can, and it’s fun listening to someone who has actual experience playing the teams and can feel in their bones what the other teams are trying to do.

”Has a passion for the game”

How would you rank Fifflaren as a caster based on what you’ve seen so far?

– He’s pretty good, because one of the important things is that he has a passion for the game that you can hear in his voice. There’s a lot he can learn but that comes down to having people help him and giving him experience.

Will this raise the hype for DHW even further?

– I think it will. It’s interesting because the new NiP lineup needs to prove themselves and who can better explain what’s going on that someone who played in the team?
