Fnatic have had a longer vacation since they won ESL One in Katowice but even though they say their form is lackluster they still managed to crush Team SoloMid in the first edition of Fight Night.
And looking towards the next match, Jesper ”JW” Wecksell has a dream opponent he’d like to face in a BO5.
– I want to face EnVyUs. To be honest I wanted to meet them in the final of ESL One, I was kind of disappointed we didn’t get to face them in that match, he says after the game.

The first game in the new format Aftonbladet Esport Fight Night has been settled, and Fnatic took a convincing victory when they flattened Team SoloMid on three straight maps. On Overpass, the Swedes won after a convincing CT side where they only surrendered a single round against their Danish foes. After winning 16-11, they looked forward to Dust2 where Team SoloMid took a convincing lead. But despite being down 13-7, Fnatic got themselves together and started racking up the rounds. In the end, they managed nine rounds in a row, leaving the final score at 16-13.

”Still a lot of small things we do badly”

With the 3000 dollars at their reach, Fnatic looked to seal the deal on Inferno. But it proved a hard task to pull off, as Team SoloMid led them into triple overtime. When the Katowice champions finally could claim the victory, it was after no less than 48 rounds. After the win, it was a somewhat critical Jesper ”JW” Wecksell that talked to the casters Halvor ”vENdetta” Gulestøl and Auguste ”Semmler” Massonnat.
– We started to play again after the break about a week ago, and we didn’t perform well in the first few matches after the vacation. Now we are practicing really hard but we still have a long way to go until we reach the form we had in Katowice.
– There’s still a lot of small things we do badly right now, but at the same time I think you never get 100 percent satisfied with your play.

”I wanted to face EnVyUs in the ESL One finals”

But even though the team hasn’t had many hours of solid practice since their major win, JW still seems confident in their abilities as they look forward to the ESEA lan finals.
– We are not scared of any team. If we only focus on our own play we can beat anybody. Because it is usually they who have to adapt to us, not the other way around.
And when it comes to the next edition of Fight Night, he’s certain which team he wants to face.
– I want to face EnvyUs in the next Fight Night and to be honest I wanted to meet them in the final of ESL One. I was kind of disappointed that we didn’t get to face them in that match.
His in-game leader Markus ”pronax” Wallsten on the other hand has a different team he’d rather face.
– I would like to meet Ninjas in Pyjamas. Personally, I think the games against them are always incredibly good and that’s always fun.
