Few, if any, missed on of the most exiting games of major history as Gamers2 fell short to Team EnvyUs during the semifinals in Cluj-Napoca.
Shortly after, Dennis ”dennis” Edman left to join Fnatic and in his stead Philip ”Aizy” Aistrup was recruited.
Now all they need to complete the puzzle is the last, but very important piece: A coach.
– We’ve been looking at some old legends, like Robert ”RobbaN” Dahström for example, Mikail ”Maikelele” Bill reveals to Aftonbladet Esport.

The CS:GO world was shocked, as Mikail ”Maikelele” Bill and his Gamers2 fought their way to the semifinals at Dreamhack Cluj, only to fall short by one round and get defeated by Team EnvyUs.

Even though G2 had impressed CS fans all over the world, changes in the line up was soon announced. As Markus ”pronax” Wallsten left his position in Fnatic, Swedish G2 star Dennis ”dennis” Edman stepped in and took over – leaving G2 one man short.
– Dennis is an exceptional player. He is good in all kinds of ways. Not only when it comes to shooting, but also in calling, in everything. He’s a good all-round player, Maikelele tells Aftonbladet Esport.

”Brings in more firepower”

Gamers2 were left a man short. To remedy the lack of players, danish up and comer Philip ”Aizy” Aistrup was recruited from Team Dignitas to become the fifth samurai in G2.
– I dare say he probably brings more firepower. He’s not as complete of a player as Dennis, but he can become as good as Dennis. So bringing in Aizy was a no-brainer.

How did you decide on Aizy?
– As a professional player, you follow all teams and all players, so we know what he’s capable of. We’ve been in contact with him before, but with the contracts of today it’s not easy to just break them. They demanded a large sum of money which we couldn’t pay back then. Now, however, he only had 3-4 months left on his contract, so they agreed to sell.

”I strongly believe we’ll be a top 3 team”

With the rebuilt lineup, Maikelele and his teams mates have already had a chance to prove themselves. At IEM San José they debuted and defeated Counter Logic Gaming, only to be knocked out by Team Solomid in the following match. Maikelele predicts a bright future up ahead.
– I’d say we’re changing for the positive, all we’re missing now is a coach that can be our in game leader. That’s what we’re searching for and I strongly believe we’ll be a top 3 team next year.

Throughout the year, the squad has consisted of many different people. In regards to coaches, both the VAC banned former player Danniel ”Dalito” Morales and former Mousesports leader Nikola ”LEGIJA” Ninic have been in charge of G2’s tactics. Perhaps ”third time’s the charm” will be a fitting phrase.
– We’re looking at who’s available. We need someone who fits us – not only in game, but also socially – since he will be hanging out with us all the time. We’ve been looking at some old legends, like Robert ”RobbaN” Dahström for example. But we don’t know yet, it’s far from decided, we’ll just see what happens.

”A part of me still wants to come back”

The 1.6 veteran Robban left the Counter-Strike scene during the switch to Global Offensive. Back in the days he played in teams such as Ninjas in Pyjamas and SK Gaming with legends like Emil ”HeatoN” Christensen and Christopher ”GeT_RiGhT” Alesund. Truly he is a legend in his own right, and in recent days a comeback has been rumored, but it has mostly consisted of streaming CS:GO.
– I’ve received some different offers for the next year, but unfortunately I can’t reveal what kinds of offers nor from who. A part of me still wants to come back as player, but I could definitely see myself in the coach role if it feels right, Robban tells Aftonbladet Esport.
