After weeks and months of preparation the best CS:GO teams in the world will all gather in Cologne to compete in the second major of the year.
While ESL have started a collaboration with WADA to combat the Adderall problem that Kory ”SEMPHIS” Friesen brought to life, Christopher ”GeT_RiGhT” Alesund still doesn’t know if he will be able to compete in the major with his medicine.

The entire CS:GO competitive scene was put on its head following an interview with former Cloud9 player Kory ”SEMPHIS” Friesen. In the interview with Mohan ”launders” Govindasamy on Youtube, SEMPHIS revealed that Cloud9 used to take Adderall, a drug designed to help people suffering from ADHD.

Since the interview was published, ESL have declared that they will collaborate with the World Anti-Doping Agency in the upcoming major. During the event, the tournament organizers will do randomized check ups on the participating players.

”Important improvement”

One of the substances ESL will be looking for is cannabis. In a Q&A thread on Reddit Anna Rozwandowicz, Head of Communications at ESL, wrote that the organization will ban players who have used marijuana during the event.
”Our main goal is and always will be to maintain the fair play spirit and the integrity of our competitions, and we’re confident that the anti-doping policy is an important improvement that will help us advance as a sport.” she wrote in the post.

While posting the questions for herself, Rozwandowicz went on to comment on the question about players having prescription for different drugs:
”In this case, they have to disclose this to us as soon as possible, but no later than the first match is scheduled to start. They will be required to provide proof (a letter from a physician, for example) that they need this specific medication.”

”Helps me function in everyday life”

One of the games biggest star, Christopher ”GeT_RiGhT” Alesund suffers from a disease to which he has to take the medicine Asacol. The active ingredient is mesalazine which is an anti-inflammatory drug designed to have its effect in the bowel area.

ESL have partnered up with WADA as well as NADA, an Indian anti-drug association. At the time of writing, there is no information on the WADA site whether GeT_RiGhT:s medicine is prohibited or not. Considering the effects of the drug, it probably is not banned, but the Ninjas in Pyjamas star is still confused over the lack of information from ESL.

In a post Facebook, the Swedish star asked his followers for some guidance on whether or not his medicine was banned.
– Everybody besides ESL have tried to help me, GeT_RiGhT says to Aftonbladet and continues:
– At to occasions the last two years I’ve been in so much pain that I’ve barely been able to play, and my medicine helps me function in my everyday life.

Alongside his tweet and Facebook post, GeT_RiGhT also retweeted a post from a follower containing a list from the Canadian anti-drug organisation according to which Asacol was not a banned substance.

At the same time he is positive that ESL is working for a drug free environment at the events.
– It nice that everything is becoming more and more serious, but at the same time all the tournaments should implements these rules and not just ESL.

In a Reddit-post Anna Rozwandowicz later wrote that they had informed GeT_RiGhT he could play with his medicine.
”He already found out he’s good to go with his medication, so all solved, thanks!” she wrote in a reply to the redditor Hornfreak.
