Last year, a campaign to get Emil ”HeatoN” Christensen into one of national television’s largest shows garnered almost 40 000 names.
On Monday, a newly started Facebook group to get the Counterstrike legend to Sweden’s version of ”Dancing with the stars” has caught the attention of TV4, and HeatoN is set to be interview about a possible participation.
– I suck at dancing, but if they want to do humiliation tv I’ll be more than willing to have people laugh at my expense, he tells Aftonbladet Esport.

”Mästarnas Mästare”, a show where some of Sweden’s former top athletes face each other in various challenges, is one of the largest programs in the country. With an average of around 2 million viewers, it reaches an audience few other shows can match. Last year, Emil ”HeatoN” Christensen was brought forward as a challenger by a Facebook group which led to 40 000 people supporting his appearance. Ultimately, the Swedish Television (SVT) chose not to include him in 2015.

”Something charming about the culture”

But now a new campaign has started: To bring HeatoN to the country’s equivalent to ”Dancing with the stars”, called ”Let’s Dance”. With a viewership number similar to that of ”Mästarnas Mästare”, the Counterstrike legend would dance off in front of millions of Swedes every Friday.
And after the campaign raised over 2000 likes in only a couple of hours, it caught the attention of TV4, the channel hosting the show. Tomorrow morning at 7.50AM CET, HeatoN will be interview about his possible appearance in the program.
– The natural question will be if he can dance and if he’s willing to participate. I’ve met him several times in other shows so I know what he’s done in the past. There’s something charming about the culture, something borderless about how he should participate here and there. There’s a glint in the eye I like, he doesn’t take everything so seriously, editor Jesper Lindström, who contacted Christensen about the interview, tells Aftonbladet Esport.

”Could get viewers we don’t traditionally have”

According to him, the channel could reach a different target audience if he were to participate.
– TV4 can see that there are viewers here that have a different habit in their viewership than what we normally see. We could get viewers we don’t traditionally have. But if he meets the criteria, I can’t decide. If I were to make a guess it’s very much dependent on who else they’re getting, Lindström says.

HeatoN is open to the idea

HeatoN himself isn’t at all foreign to the idea of dancing on national tv.
– I suck at dancing so I would probably be like Ingemark Stenmark (legendary ski racer, last season’s winner in ”Let’s Dance”). Well, I guess he won, but if they want to do humiliation tv with me I’ll be more than willing to let people laugh at my expense, he told Aftonbladet Esport earlier today.
