Few players have fought as hard as Kenny ”KennyS” Schrub has over the years.
On Saturday he finally got to lift his own major trophy for the first time.
– I don’t have any words to describe what I’m feeling, the star tells Aftonbladet Esport.

Kenny ”KennyS” Schrub has been fighting his way through shuffles in the french scene for years. He’s perhaps the greatest and most praised player that has never won a major tournament. At least that was the case until yesterday, Saturday, when he won his first ever major title with Team EnvyUs at Dreamhack Cluj.
– I don’t have any words to describe what I’m feeling now. It’s really amazing, I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. We achieved something really big today, the star tells Aftonbladet Esport.

In the final match against the eastern european team of Na’vi, KennyS played well – unlike his last major final at against Fnatic where he massivly underperformed.
– I wasn’t as good that time. I had a terrible map and it was a nightmare to be honost. Basically it was something bad in my mind and I’ve worked on it since then. I felt more confident at this major and played stronger. Everything went good for me.

”We are the best team in the world”

KennyS’s first chance if winning a major tournament was at ESL One Cologne, where the Swedish giants of Fnatic won over EnvyUs. Fnatic has by some experts been deemed the greatest team in CS history. Now EnvyUs looks to start a new era of dominance.
– The next goal is to keep winning and be the best team in the world for a long time, like Fnatic did. We have a lot of events in the coming months and we have to win them all, KennyS says and continues:
– We’ll take it major by major.

Do you think EnvyUs is the best team in the world now?
– Maybe it’s too early to say. We proved a lot of things here at the major and I think yes, we are the best team in the world.

”We were not expecting that level from G2”

In the semi finals EnvyUs faced the Scandinavian/Portuguese squad of Gamers2. Experts predicted G2 to get completely demolished, but in the end they were only one round away from stealing the spot for the grand finals. According to KennyS, this was the biggest surprise of the whole tourney.
– G2 showed a huge fight actually, we almost went out in the semi final. It was a really stressful match.
– We were not expecting that level from them.

How did you manage to win in the end?
– It was really hard. We were beaten down, but had like 1 minute and 30 seconds to think about it and we were just like: ’Okay guys, this is a major and we can’t give up. We’ll fight to death’.

Do you think G2 will be a part of the top going forward?
– I don’t know. I think that game was really annoying.
– I think they can achieve some things with that team, but I don’t know if they will get better or go down.
