As the qualifier for Dreamhack Cluj, the third major of the year, have begun the players over at the Dreamhack Studio in Stockholm have been voicing objection against the choice of screens at the event.
Among those are Jordan ”n0thing” Gilbert who shortly after beating Team ROCCAT spoke with Aftonbladet Esport regarding the issue.
– Current monitors are just not up to standards, he says and adds that he hopes the rumored new EIZO monitors would be released sooner rather than later.

At the time of writing, Cloud9 have just dispersed the wild fighting Finnish side Team ROCCAT to progress to the winner’s match of group A. Cloud9 faced hard opposition on especially Dust2 where Team ROCCAT came really close to securing the map with Miikka ”suNny” Kemppi almost carrying his team to the victory on the classic map.
– Dust2 definitely felt close just because we’ve been having some of those issues on Dust2 before. So you don’t know how to feel about them. Cache, even though we lost so many rounds in a row as CT, I don’t think we were ever scared. I think we just kind of lost our groove there and then we kept getting picked. So we didn’t really feel outplayed too much, just slight collapses here and there, Jordan ”n0thing” Gilbert says to Aftonbladet Esport.

The game eventually ended 2-0 to the Americans who will now either face off against Team Dignitas or Team Immunity in the upcoming winner’s match in witch the victorious team will have qualified to the third major of the year.

”Really good event”

The group stage of Dreamhack Stockholm is being played in the tournament organizers studio in a suburb to Stockholm. Though n0thing notes that Dreamhack is taking very good care of the players and also compliments the venue, he also adress the subpar monitors.
– Dreamhack’s running a really good event in terms off they get us here on time, they make sure everyone had a fair time of warm up, the venue is good and they have catering for us. The only issue I have is the same one I had at Dreamhack Valencia, which is the EIZO monitors. Nothing personal with the EIZO company, I heard they are coming out with a new monitor, he says and continues:
– If anyone from EIZO reads this I would urge you guys to maybe think about releasing the new monitor before the major, because it would make for a much better tournament. Your current monitors are just not up to standards, the one we’re playing on, and from the sounds of it their new monitor is going to be awesome so I look forward to playing on it, hopefully sooner then later.

”Obviously saddening”

When asked, Dreamhack says to Aftonbladet Esport that they always have a dialogue with the players and manufacturers regarding hardware issues. However, Fredrik Nyström at Dreamhack says that at the moment there’s no exact date when the current equipment will be upgraded.
– It happens that players are not pleased with the hardware we provide and that is obviously saddening.

One ongoing issue both the community as well as the professional players have had in regard to the majors have been the prevalence of the best-of-1 format in the group stages. At the Dreamhack Stockholm event, all matches will be played over at least two maps – possibly three. Something that n0thing praises after their dismantlement of Team ROCCAT.
– I like the fact that Dreamhack is doing best of 3. Like I said I think Dremahack are running a great event. They are starting to make players expect a much higher quality of events, as well as ESL, so I’m hoping to see more and more qualified organizers. Even Gfinity run things well. Hopefully less and less Gamers Paradise types of events in our scene and more like Dreamhack, ELS or Gfinity events.
