Pronax: ”We are the best team ever – no one can argue against that”
avMarkus ”pronax” Wallsten is once again the champion of the World, as him and his teammates emerged victorious at the ESL One Cologne major.
And now, the three time major-winning IGL he’s convinced regarding the team’s place in the history books.
– We are the best CS:GO team ever, he says to Aftonbladet Esport.
Unless you’ve been sleeping under a rug this weekend, you should by now know that Fnatic once again are the reining major champions. This time around, the Swedish side became the first team to win a major back-to-back.
Through a remarkable comeback on Dust2 and a convincing win on Cobblestone, the Swedes won the Grand Finals in front of 11 000 in the stands. One thing the audience and the viewers will remember from Fnatics run to the championship is how remarkably better the team became after each and every timeout.
– It’s Viktor ”vuggo” Jendeby who decides when we are calling for a timeout, I’m too focused on the game to even remember that I can take a break. We usually only use the timeouts to calm ourselves down. It happens – though not very often – that we talk over some tactical stuff, Markus ”pronax” Wallsten explains to Aftonbladet Esport and continues:
– But the shit that happened on Dust2 is just indescribable.
”When NiP dominated the scene wasn’t as big”
You have now won three majors wearing that orange patch, alongside Robin ”flusha” Rönnquist and Jesper ”JW” Wecksell. Two of those came after Olof ”olofmeister” Kajbjer and Freddy ”KRiMZ” Johansson joined the team. Are you the best team in CS:GO history?
– Yes, we are. We are the best team in CS:GO ever and no one can argue against that at this point.
The only thing you might lack is a 87-0 run?
– Yes, maybe. But at the same time, when Ninjas in Pyjamas dominated like they did the CS:GO scene was nowhere close to as big as it is now.
Which one of you three majors have meant the most for you?
– The first one I to this day can not find any words to describe. It was so unpredictable and I don’t think anything like that will ever happen again. On a personal level it was the first time I won anything big in Counter-Strike. This time we became the first team to ever win back-to-back majors and that brings on a very special feeling.
