Game Show League Dota2 qualifier cancelled after continuous DDos attacks

The Game Show League Dota2 qualifier being held at DreamHack Moscow had barely started before a heavy DDos attack shut it down.
After a several hour delay the admins informed the casters that the games have been cancelled.
– This is such a shame, says caster David ”LD” Gorman.

The ”distributed denial of service” or DDos attacks have become an increasingly frustrating issue for tournaments all over the world. The latest in a row of events to be disrupted is the Game Show League Dota2 qualifier being held at DreamHack Moscow with several of the worlds’ top teams competing. Today, the tournament only streamed two games before the DDos attacks shut the servers down.
– This is such a shame, says LD on air while the first attack shut down the games.

”We can’t cast even if the games are played”

The attacks weren’t the first of the tournament since it was attacked last night as well.

And today, after heavy delays, Gorman had to break the news to the viewers that the qualifier has been cancelled because of the games. It is still unclear wether or not they will be played at all.
– We’re not gonna be able to cast even if the games are played. The admins are telling us that the internet isn’t working and that the games will be played, if they’re played at all, offline.

UPDATE 14.04: The russian stream is now up and running and showing the game between Virtus.Pro vs Empire. It looks like the games are back on.

UPDATE 2: Beyond the summit is back streaming the games.
