Team Empire win the qualifier: ”What a comeback”

av Björn Ehrnberg

Team Empire edge out Virtus.Pro Polar and advance to the big LAN-event hosted by Esportal. After a remarkable comeback, the Russians bring home 7 000 Euro along side the the chance to win it all.
– That was an awesome set of games. What a comeback! Andrew ”Zyori” Campbell said during the stream.

Team Empire defeat Virtus.Pro Polar in the first grand final of Esportals Invitational qualifiers. After falling behind with 2-0 to Illidan and the rest of VP, Team Empire put forth the tactics that took them to the finals.

With several unordinary picks like Spirit Breaker, Queen of Pain and Shadow Demon the series underdog came back and won the series.
– We will see what we put out there in the finals, Team Empires Roman ”Resolut1on” Fominok told Aftonbladet Esport prior to the grand finals.

”Could not contribute”

When the smoke had settled Virtus.Pro Polar came up short due to the problems Team Empires draft put them in. With Alexander ”DkPhobos” Kucheria twice failing with his Puck Virtus.Pro could not end their Russian enemy. Together with lousy map awareness and failed ganks from a bunch of VP:s stand ins, the favorite to win it all fell short.
– Three games in a row Ilya ”Illidan” Pivcaev was given a carry who could not contribute in the early game which came back to haunt them, and the fact that Team Empire banned Slark for the remainder of the games turned out to be a brilliant move, the expert Ben ”Merlini” Wu told the audience after the victory was snatched from Virtus.Pro Polars hands.

Team Empire walk away from the qualifier with 7 000 Euro in cash along side a place in the big LAN-event that will be held in March 2015.
