In eight months Dreamhack will open the doors to their first North American event.
On Tuesday the tickets were released and activities announced, and only 24 hours later the event was sold out.
– Now we’re looking to strengthen our position in North America, Fredrik ”Ponderosa” Nyström, press contact at Dreamhack, tells Aftonbladet Esport.

Eight months remain until Dreamhack open the doors to their first event in North America. Esports fans from all over America will travel to Austin, Texas, to take part in all that the Swedish LAN-organizers have to offer.

Other than the usual CS:GO tournament, the participants will also be able to enjoy competitions Street Fighter and Super Smash Bros Melee, something the world champion Adam ”Armada” Lindgren had longed for.
– The interest for smash lies in USA and honestly that city has huge potential. I hope it happens, Armada told Aftonbladet Esport, as we first revealed that Dreamhack could be bringing Smash to Austin.

”We’re looking to strengthen our position in North America”

As the tickets were released and activities announced for on Tuesday, it was confirmed that the American fans will get a smash tournament. Within 24 hours the BYIC-tickets were sold out.
– Other than our events in Sweden we have also arranged events in Spain and Romania successfully, so we knew there’s a lot of interest for Dreamhack, but we did not expect the tickets to sell out so fast. There’s always some uncertainty when you break new grounds and enter new markets. Our conclusion is that we made the right choice and now we’re looking to strengthen our position in North America, Fredrik ”Ponderosa” Nyström, press contact at Dreamhack, tells Aftonbladet Esport.

Does that mean we’ll see more Dreamhack events in North America?
– Yes, that’s the ambition.
