Kracke was fired and got his revenge: ”It was a bit personal”
avKristian ”Kracke” Sörquist won the Heroes of Newerth world championship but was released from the team only days after the victory. On Tuseday in the DeadEye Bounty League he got his revenge.
– I tried very hard to win, it was a bit personal, Kristian says to Aftonbladet Esport.
Even though Bad Monkey Gaming went against all odds and won the Heroes of Newerth world championship the team decided to kick Kristian ”Kracke” Sörquist only days after the victory. Kristian soon found a new home in Team Fresh and on Tuseday in the DeadEye Bounty League he got his revenge on the old teammates.
– I tried really hard to win. I mean, it was a bit personal. It was a really close match with long games. It felt good, Kristian says to Aftonbladet Esport.
Longstanding internal conflicts
According to Kristian there were many reasons as to why the team needed a change. Among other things it was about longstanding internal conflicts regarding play style.
– Our skype could sometimes get quite intense, he says.
Still, the decision for his departure came as a chock to him.
– I mean, we had just won the biggest thing you can win in HON and they decided to do this. It was a bit hard for me to understand.
Dipping interest for HON
In Thailand there is a broad and burning passion for HON and when Kristian went there to play the world championship he was astounded over the big interest.
– It’s incrediby big there and that for me is really strange, he says.
– Completely randomly on the street a couple people saw us and wanted to take pictures. We had no teamclothes or anything so they just recognized our faces.
The Swedish and global interest for HON used to be a lot bigger, but the trend turned when the developers decided to charge players for the game. HON was however recently released in China and the developers are fighting to keep the game alive by hosting things such as community funded tournaments. But for Kristian it looks as though the HON-career is coming to an end.
– Right now I’m focusing on Dreamhack and personally I don’t know how long I’ll stay after that. Then I’m going to play Dota2 or attend policeschool, Kristian says.
