Team SoloMid took home the IEM World Championship after a decisive victory over Team We in the grand finals.
Finally, the American side had won their first international title.
– Historically our team hasn’t done so well against international teams and in international tournaments. But we are a different team now, Søren ”Bjergsen” Bjerg says after the game.

Team SoloMid defeated Team WE in the grand finals of IEM World Championship in Katowice. The American side played their hearts out and won over the Chinese squad, who upset both CJ Entus and undefeated GE Tigers the previous day, without a single loss.

The team now travels home to the other side of the pond with the $100 000 prize purse and their first international victory in the luggage. After the game, It was a happy Søren ”Bjergsen” Bjerg who talked to the press.
– We took an hour before the game and went through our game plan with the front office, he says about the plays that took down the team that shocked the League of Legends community only a day earlier.

After failing to present results in international tournaments, TSM finally proved they can play with the best teams in the world.

In front of his father and brother the Danish TSM midlaner led the team to victory, only giving up three deaths over three games, while being cheered on by over 10 000 people in the Spodek Arena in Katowice. But even though the team have finally won their first international title, Bjergsen is still humble about what the immediate future holds.
– We are of course very happy with our win, but we have to go back to the drawing board for our next match.
