What are the 5 super-human foods? Tonight New York based Holistic Health Coach Robyn Youkilis took us through each one in detail at the Juice Generation bar in West Village. Here are a few notes I jotted down from the lecture. She is a promoter of feeding your body in a way that works for the individual! Like it…

  1. Kale: Loaded with chlorophyll, has cancer fighting properties, purifies your blood, clears lungs of mucus, contains a ton of vitamins (A,C, E, K, etc.). She has great recipes on her site if you want to try this green for dinner tonight. Click here!
  2. Spirulina: Helps put the breaks on cravings, it’s a complete vegetarian protein (contains the 9 essential amino acids) – great after a workout.
  3. Cayenne Pepper: Raises heat temperature (which raises metabolism), great for immunity, and helps digestion. Add some to your hot lemon water in the morning.
  4. Celery: Lowers blood pressure (according to the wise man Hippocrates). If you think it’s too strong, try celery root.
  5. Chia Seeds: Loaded with fiber! Contains protein and omega (total brain food).
