What are some superfoods you should be eating? Well here are my faves…. algae, bee pollen, sprouts & young grasses, garlic, ginger, turmeric, maca, celery seed, acai, grape seeds, goji berries, mangosteen, amla, camu camu, aloe vera, chia seeds, hemp seeds, flax seeds, clover, dandelion, chickweed, sorrel, purlsane, chicory, etc.
Superfoods are defined by the common characteristics below:
- A whole food (organically grown if possible)
- A raw food (retaining life forces, enzymes, and synergistic effects of plant components)
- Easily digestible
- Exceptionally nutritious, containing proportionally higher quantities of nutrients and other beneficial food attributes
- A food rich in the following nutrients: vitamins, minerals, proteins, fatty acids, antioxidants and phytochemicals that strengthen the body’s immune system
- A food that assists in the prevention and elimination of disease and premature aging
- A food that promotes healthy elimination and presence of beneficial intestinal flora
- An excellent permanent dietary/supplemental addition to daily intake
