I LOVE JUICING.

av Filippa Salomonsson

Ok so by now you know that juicing can be done over a couple of days, aka, ”fast” or ”cleanse,” but if you don’t have the time or energy for his just simply add juice into your life period… to any meal or as a snack. The benefits are enormous and it’s always a good vitamin boost. The difference with a juice versus a smoothie is that you have removed the fiber, so the nutrients can penetrate even deeper into your cells and simultaneously remove unwanted nasty toxins built up from other food, pollution, etc. So below is a list of reasons from Dr. Mercola to drink organic natural, no-sugar-added, fresh juice. And remember green is always the best!

  • Juicing helps you absorb all the nutrients from the vegetables. This is important because most of us have impaired digestion as a result of making less-than-optimal food choices over many years. This limits your body’s ability to absorb all the nutrients from the vegetables. Juicing will help to ”pre-digest” them for you, so you will receive most of the nutrition, rather than having it go down the toilet.
  • Juicing allows you to consume an optimal amount of vegetables in an efficient manner. If you are a carb type, you should eat one pound of raw vegetables per 50 pounds of body weight per day. Some people may find eating that many vegetables difficult, but it can be easily accomplished with a quick glass of vegetable juice.
  • You can add a wider variety of vegetables in your diet. Many people eat the same vegetable salads every day. This violates the principle of regular food rotation and increases your chance of developing an allergy to a certain food. But with juicing, you can juice a wide variety of vegetables that you may not normally enjoy eating whole.

TAKE A TRIP TO BEIJING8…

av Filippa Salomonsson

No need for a passport, just grab your wallet and appetite and head to Beijing8 for a nutritious & delicious lunch or dinner. Joined Josefine Jäger there yesterday afternoon for some steamed broccoli and beans. But there is plenty more variation on the menu. For you veggies out there, I would recommend having a bite of the vegetarian dumplings. Oh and don’t forget to warm tea! Bon voyage.

3 REASONS TO GO MEATLESS.

av Filippa Salomonsson

Listen, there are many reasons to avoid eating meat from the animal kingdom, but I thought I would dive into my top three today and share some knowledge with ya’ll. I am backed up by my not so ”clueless” friend Alicia Silverstone, she is definitely spearheading this whole vegetarian movement in LA. Rock it out girl.

If you absolutely must eat our four legged friends, buy organic, grass-feed creatures and perhaps scale down on the number of times you eat meat per week. I am a fan of Paul McCartney’s Meatless Mondays. Why not try it? Come on, it’s one freak’in day…

Top Reasons to Avoid Meat

Meat is bad for your battery (aka. the heart): ”Heart disease is the number one killer of women in the United States. Number one. Not breast cancer… not mascara poisoning… Heart disease! And meat eating is a major contributor. You see, meat contains lots of saturated fat. Saturated fat elevates your blood cholesterol, and causes the plaque to clog your arteries. Clogged arteries lead to high blood pressure or – even worse – a stroke or a nice juicy heart attack.”

Meat can cause osteoporosis: Ehhh yeah you need to start thinking about this now, and not when your 70 years old… ”When you eat meat, your blood becomes acidic, and that’s no cool; acidic blood can lead to all sorts of nasty problems… In order to balance all the acidity, your bones come to the rescue by releasing some of their minerals. This leaves your blood nice and balanced, but your bones weak.”

Meat is hard for the tummy to digest: ”Fiber is the broom that sweeps out your intestines, moving food through your digestive tract and helping to eliminate waste. Meat contains absolutely no fiber. It gets stuck down there, creating a funky, stuck, acid environment.” Colon cancer anyone? Yikes!

A LITTLE VANILLA.

av Filippa Salomonsson

Of course my smoothie needed to be pink on the day of love! Duh. Had this sweet treat in the afternoon. Mixed one banana, frozen raspberries, almond milk, and natural vanilla powder.
