ALCOHOL LINKED TO BREAST CANCER

av Filippa Salomonsson

Ladies, put down your apple martini and slow down on the drinks, it could have some risky side effects… ”Research has shown that women who have 2 to 5 alcoholic drinks daily have a higher risk of breast cancer than women who drink only 1 drink a day or not at all. In a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in November, researchers found evidence that linked even lower levels of drinking alcohol to an increase in breast cancer risk. As little as 3 to 6 glasses of wine a week was shown to slightly increase breast cancer risk,” (Cancer.org). Drinking is also linked to mouth, throat, liver and colon cancer.

Just be careful, it’s not worth it…

ANASTASIA HESSEL: INSPIRING ONE PERSON AT A TIME… ONE CITY AT A TIME…

av Filippa Salomonsson

I was walking George around Brickell Key in Miami on Friday, when he spotted a cute white female dog named Fancy. Little did he know, but he was not that only one making new connections, the owners were  beautiful couple Anastasia and Peter Hessel. We probably ended up have a better interaction than the dogs, since we extended our conversation to the very next day and went for breakfast in Coconut Grove, followed by a visit to Glaser Farms. It’s funny how life brings people together… right place at the right time…

Anastasia Hessel is a certified personal trainer (from the Fitness Institute of Australia), as well as a yoga teacher. Her body is rock solid and an inspiration to us all… Lucky me, she shared some of her tips for long-lasting health and fitness, and directed me to her free workouts, which are varied exercises that you can do at home with no extra tools, balls, weights, etc., just your body!! She helps her clients build long, lean muscles (yes, ladies the kind we all want) and has her own fitness club. Love strong entrepreneurial females.

It was so refreshing to meet a real genuine woman with a mission to lead and inspire as many people as possible to live happier and healthier lives. And she leads by example, takig care of herself and exploring the world one city at a time – from Hawaii to Sydney, Vegas to Miami (and Denmark somewhere in between).

Don’t wait for your New Year’s resolution to kick in, start working towards the best version of yourself now. Throw on some tights, a tank, sneakers and press this link for an amazing workout. Oh and don’t forget to do Anastasia’s warm up…

WALNUT + BANANA COMBINATION

av Filippa Salomonsson

Breakfast was 1/2 a grapefruit and this toast. The bread is vegan and sprouted from Alvardo St. Bakery, and topped with walnut butter and a few slices of organic banana. And sprinkles of sea salt. Love that combo with the banana… salty and sweet… Have a beautiful Friday everyone!

LOW-FAT, LIGHT, AND NON-FAT PRODUCTS ARE SO 1990…

av Filippa Salomonsson

Yes eating low-fat, light and non-fat products might have been a trend in the 90’s, but ladies & gentlemen now it is just so old… out of style… Today you should be eating the real thang – food that the body recognizes. The structure of the food changes when it’s processed and this confuses our digestive system. So go to your fridge, pour out the skim milk and low-fat yogurt. And say bye bye to fake!! Also when it comes to fat, you should be getting the ”right” type, don’t try to avoid it, our bodies definitely need it. Fat protects our most important organs, helps nerves to function properly, keeps us warm (hello Swedes…bbrrrrr), and is a great source of energy.

”In January 2011 the latest Dietary Guidelines for Americans based on the latest scientific data suggested it’s all about quality of fats. The recommendations focused on choosing healthy fats from sources like nuts, seeds, olives and avocado, while still keeping sources of saturated fats like butter, whole milk, beef and chicken with skin to less than 10 percent of overall daily calories. It also suggests minimizing trans fat, which is found in margarine and some processed foods like chips,” (FoodNetwork.com).

I’m no fan of diary, you know that, but if you’re going to eat it, please buy the real deal. Trust me on this one.

BIG EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT…

av Filippa Salomonsson

Dear Friends,

Sometimes we just have to embrace change and simply go in the direction where life points… And this time the wind is blowing me all the way to Stockholm. After 23 years in the United States of America, it’s time to return to my roots. Leave the chaotic streets of Manhattan and trade them in for historic Nordic alleys, depart from the PR world of events, fashion, celebrities and focus on my true passion – health. Sweden has come a long way when it comes to this subject, but there are many missing pieces, and I want to help figure out how to put the puzzle back together.

Leaving New York & Miami is bittersweet. This has been my home for a very long time. But changing the world from the comfort of my Upper East Side apartment ain’t gonna do anything. I have something very special planned for all of you, a brand new product launching in April that I will reveal closer to the date – oh yes you’re going to like it (a lot). I will also be offering my one-on-one coaching & my group coaching and will do an in-depth post on the benefits of these programs once I land… Lots of balls up in the air right now!

I am so happy about my decision and can’t wait to get back to work with you all. Let’s explore our options and make an impactful change together. See you in January!

Love,

Filippa

REPLACE WHITE PROCESSED STEVIA WITH IT’S GREEN POWDER FORM…

av Filippa Salomonsson

It’s confusing I know, but please don’t buy the white Stevia – it has in fact been processed to become that color and substance, instead there is something even better for you. The original green Stevia powder. Good news huh?

Stevia does not only make your smoothies sweet, but it detoxifies you body and provides it with antioxidants.

”Lacking the chemical properties of sucrose, glucose or other sugars that trigger an insulin response, Stevia serves as a safe sugar substitute for people with diabetes,” LiveStrong.com.
