HEALTHY HAIRCARE.

av Filippa Salomonsson

I love nourishing my hair from the inside out, but today I wanted to share my shampoo secret. I always get something with extra moisture and a strong deep conditioner.

Like L’Oreal’s Ever Sleek + Ever Strong products since they have no sulfate, silicon, paraben, and are 100% vegan baby.

TOAST TO AVOCADO.

av Filippa Salomonsson

Ok if I could eat one thing for the rest of my life, it would be avocados! There is nothing better than the perfect one with some sea salt and lemon drizzle. That’s it, all you need. Today I spread a half over a piece of sprouted toast – you can find it in the freezer section at Whole Foods. Anyways back to my favorite fruit (haha)… did you know it contains omega-3? Yup, and you should be getting this essential fatty acid into your body every single day.

Why omega-3? Ok here is the deal…

  • It reduces inflammation in the body. And this is important because an inflamed body is more prone to diseases of all sorts!
  • ”There are several types of omega-3 fatty acids. Two crucial ones — EPA and DHA — are primarily found in certain fish. Plants like flax contain ALA, an omega-3 fatty acid that is partially converted into DHA and EPA in the body. Algae oil often provides only DHA.”
  • Hello healthy heart… eating omega-3 can lower your risk for heart disease. We like.
  • If you want to be happy for the rest of your life, you gotta make… actually you have to eat omega-3. It has shown to lower depression. So smile.
  • Want healthy kids? ”Studies show that EPA and DHA supplementation during pregnancy boost the health of pregnant women and the development of their children. DHA appears to be important for visual and neurological development in infants.”
  • Breathe in and out…. phew! ”Evidence suggests that a diet high in omega 3s reduces inflammation, a key component in asthma.”

SWEET SPOT SOLUTION

av Filippa Salomonsson

While the rest of us ate raw nori sandwiches, Monique, my brother’s girlfriend satisfied her sweet tooth with some raw blackberry ice cream.

Want to make ice cream at home? Just freeze sliced bananas, run them through a blender and add flavors. Ex. cacao, strawberries, mint, etc. Etc viola!

NO SWEETS WEEK

av Filippa Salomonsson

This week is all about extra self care for me. Going to bikram yoga everyday, focusing on giving my body all the nutrients it needs with a varied raw diet, and the big one…. no sugar… for me that means no raw chocolate, dried fruit, cinnamon date milk, raw vanilla macaroons, raw ice cream, etc. Still want to have one or two regular fruits a day in my smoothie, but basically just giving my body a break from sweets this week. You want to join me? Let’s do it together. Having support on your health journey increases your success rate – this has been my own observation. 😉

My affirmation for the week: ”I easily let go off sweets to balance my body and eat with the intention of full self care in order to be the healthiest version of myself.”

IT’S A BEAUTIFUL RAW MORNING…

Smoothie Ingredients: Spinach, Banana, Sprouts, Water, and Spirulina.

Why spirulina? ”Hawaiian spirulina contains a high concentration of antioxidants which are critical to protect the body against cell damage… A study published in the Brazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research confirms the presence of antioxidants in microalgae such as spirulina as well as the anti-cancer and anti-aging effects associated with these antioxidants,” LiveStrong.com.
