GREEN SMOOTHIES ARE THE BOMB.COM

av Filippa Salomonsson

Check out my well deserved smoothie after a 90 minute bikram session with my beautiful Cubanita Gianina.

Mixed one small banana, one cup water, and 3 huge swiss chard leaves.

Benefits of swiss chard? Well 1 cup has all the vitamin A + K that you need for the day. What what! Has lots of calcium so it supports healthy bones. We like that… and it’s good for your hair since it contains biotin that strengthens and grows your golden locks.

The stuff also prevents cancer!! ”Swiss chard is one of the super foods that is known for its cancer preventative properties thanks to the fiber, chlorophyll, phytochemicals, and other plant pigments it contains.  Studies have found that leafy green vegetables are particularly beneficial against colon cancer.” – HealthDiaries.com

Want to be even smarter than you are now? ha. Listen to this… ”In addition to strengthening the bones, the vitamin K in Swiss chard is crucial for the proper functioning of the brain and nervous system because it is essential in the formation of the myelin sheath, the protective layer around nerves.”- HealthDiaries.com

I’M GOING TO MIAMI…

av Filippa Salomonsson

Here! Landed in Miami and already out and about on the social scene… Pop Up Piano Miami had a few local artists splash their talented work on pianos for charity. Attended the launch sponsored by Wyndwood Shipping with my brothers and our friend Leo. We drank organic tea, nibbled on KIND Bars, and mingled. Pretty good start to my month long stay in the Orange State. Night ya’ll.

LIVE YOUR LIFE.

Are you truly living your life? Or could you appreciate a little more? Try a little harder? Be more present?

TIME TO INVEST… COUGH UP THE CASH FOR HEALTH…

av Filippa Salomonsson

Yes organic produce costs more and ”superfoods” aren’t cheap either, but that’s no reason not to invest in the right type of food that your body needs. Editor-in-Chief of Self Magazine, Lucy Danziger, recently told CNN the following:

”At the end of the day, you invest in your wardrobe and your hair and your car and everything else. So invest in your body. Because it’s supposed to last for 100 years.”

So take out your wallet and throw down some cash in order to keep these foods stocked in your cabinet at all times (optimal health baby): Broccoli, spinach, berries, green tea, coconut oil, fermented vegetables, & nuts. Keep it organic! Keep it whole, keep it local, keep it simple.

STRUGGLE WITH COMPULSIVE EATING?

av Filippa Salomonsson

”A Course in Weight Loss” by Marianne Williamson is a beautiful book that reveals steps towards self love, natural pound shedding, and balance. You can also download it on iTunes which I recommend.

Compulsive eating is a reflection of your inner self, and we often use food to fill a void and deal with uncomfortable emotions. Step by step, Marianne will help you pinpoint the issues you need to deal with inside… and release them, along with your weight.

SLOW DOWN TIGER, ONE BITE AT A TIME…

av Filippa Salomonsson

Have you ever noticed people that inhale their entire plate in one swoop? Or are you one of those 5-minute-clean-the-plate peeps? There are two reasons for conscious eating and slowing down at the dinner table – the first being digestion. There are important components to this process that start in the mouth, so chewing is actually importante.

The second is simply the full enjoyment of a meal. Do you take time to be grateful for the food? Do you thank it for its nutrients? Does your food share your attention with the TV, Elle Magazine, or your iPad? Be present when you eat, make your daily meals beautiful rituals, not just a burger on the go.

Also, give your tummy time to say, ”Ummm I’m full now.” This will happen within 20 minutes regardless of the amount.

Be in the moment when you eat, and if you cannot thank your food for it’s vitamins and minerals, you’re eating the wrong thang babe. Time to make some changes!
