WiMP Live Sessions: Q&A with Panetoz
av
Hey Panetoz! We are so happy to have you at Live Sessions on the 24:th. and we are totally psyched about you soon releasing an album. Tell us a little bit about that!
Hey Wimp! If you guys are happy then we are overwhelmed! It’s truly a blessing to be a part of all this. We are more than psyched about the release of the “mini” album. The songs that we chose for the”mini” album are songs that we feel Panetoz are all about. That feel good, positive, ”move your body” type of music that is created to stimulate and interact with both body, mind and soul. So consider this an appetizer, we are already starting on the main course. Bon apetit!
You have become superstars in Sweden though you single ”Dansa Pausa”. The title has become a catchfrase. How did you guys come up with the idea of ”Dansa Pausa”?
Yes, it’s pretty funny actually, the guys were sitting in the studio listening to a beat, and it wasn’t “Dansa Pausa” in the beginning, it was something completely different. Then one of our band members Nebeyu Baheru said “Dansa Pausa” would fit in better than the previous, and they all agreed. And BAM! a hit was born.
Your social awareness is strong and you are involved in a project for helping kids in exposed suburban areas. Tell us about that!
First and far most we love the kids, we believe that is still a little kid in all of us. So to make change instead of expecting “THEM” to fix the problem “WE” should all just take responsibility and act as a unit. It’s not only the parents that has to take care of the kids, we all are responsible. And that’s a small part of what we really are doing with ”Vägen UT”. Four of the members started Vägen ut to give themselves, then as kids, a chance to record music and to focus on other positive stuff such as sports. Today, we try to use music as a tool to get kids/youth, boys and girls off the streets. We are giving them a chance to express themselves throughout music, and give them lectures on how to survive under hard circumstances, for example leadership skills and so on. Many of the kids are now grown up and are working with ”Vägen UT” as leaders.
Finally; what are the three songs that ha inspired you the most as a group? Please let us have you short and sweet ”deserted island-list”
We all have different kind of taste in music. It’s pretty funny, we’re 5 people in a group but these songs are the three songs that we choose.
Magic System – ”Premier gaou”
NAS – ”If I ruled the world (Imagine that)”
Usher – ”You make me wanna”
